The distinct smell of change is in the air as we welcome December with the launch of The 2016 Pirelli Calendar.
Now in it's 43rd year, the calendar is stepping away from the cliched raunchy lad's editions that we've come to expect and is instead featuring women chosen solely on their achievementsIn fact, for the first time the "model's" achievements will be published alongside their picture rather than their measurements.
Now don't get me wrong, I actually have very little issue with the idea of girls showing off their bits for every month of the year, after all, if you are working in a freezing garage mid-January, there is a fair chance that a pair of boobies will incentivise you. Much like the fact that 2013 was a great year for me, made so great, I suspect, by the shirtless Royal Marines.
But that's a chat for another day.
I am going totally bonkers over this particular calendarFeaturing Amy Schumer, Fran Lebowitz, Tavi Gevinson, Serena Williams, Pattie Smith, Yao Chen to name but a few, this calendar offers every amount of inspiration that you'll need next year.
"Outstanding professional, social, cultural, sporting and artistic accomplishment"
We are actually not short of role models right now, they are appearing everywhere and kicking ass in their own special ways, bu this calendarfor me at least, feels like they are becoming more accessibleI LOVE the idea of spending April looking at Serena Williams and kidding myself that one day, I too, could be a Tennis Superstar. I'm equally excited for December when I can look at Amy Schumer drinking her coffee in her pants and stop fretting about my lack of abs that I blame on turkey season.
This is exciting and it feels like a really positive chance.
Oh and our favourite bit of this story? Photographer Annie Lebovitz saying of Amy Schumer: "I'm a great admirer of comediennes. The Amy Schumer portrait added some fun. It's as if she didn't get the memo saying that she could keep her clothes on."
Amy then tweeted about the calendar saying: "Beautiful, gross, strong, thin, fat, pretty, ugly, sexy disgusting, flawless, woman. Thank you @annieleibovitz"
Never change Amy.
