RUNNING FOR DUMMIES - THE STORY CONTINUES...

So we’re switching things up now and I’m taking over for the latest update in Em and Francesca’s Operation Running (sounds a bit more official, non?)

So things have taken a slight downward turn. Exercise is still go go go, but running’s taken a bit of a back seat but the pathway to fitness isn’t too far off.

Ok maybe it is a bit far. But here’s what we learnt this week…

Sometimes life gets in the way, and that’s a-ok.

Don’t be afraid to switch things up.

Taking the easy road isn’t gonna fix much.

Snazzy new running leggings are genuinely motivating.

Mindless chit chat makes running go A LOT quicker.

STRETCH. STRETCH. STRETCH.

Sometimes life gets in the way, and that’s a-ok.

If you have a new job (Francesca) or are heading off on a well-earned holiday (Em) then sometimes it’s tricky to find the balance, but find your stride, get back on the proverbial saddle and find your rhythm again. That’s 3 cliches in one sentence so you know we’re right.

Don’t be afraid to switch things up.

Chances are if you just stick to the running then you’re going to get rather bored. Hit the gym, try out that machine that looks weird but intriguing or jump on a bike (more on the latter soon…)

Taking the easy road isn’t gonna fix much.

When you fall out of good habits, life is easier but the end goal gets further and further away. KEEP GOING!

Snazzy new running leggings are genuinely motivating.

Go forth and shop.

Mindless chit chat makes running go A LOT quicker.

Grab a buddy, set off and before you know it you’ll have completed the route in no time and will probably have discovered some unknown salacious gossip on the way. Win-win.

STRETCH. STRETCH. STRETCH.

Ok so we mentioned this one last week but it’s still super important. If you don’t stretch, few will pity you when the next day your muscles are so tight, you struggle, like an 8-month pregnant woman to stand from your seat #truestory. Comedy value indeed, but not so fun for your legs...

So there you have it. Some weeks go better than others, but at the end of the day as long as you recognise where things need to change and you act on them, things can’t go too far wrong! Em’s still on holiday… I’m going to sneak in a run or two before she’s back (that spatula will be mine…)
Em's Quote: 'Yeh I got loads of snapchats from Frankie in gym gear this week while i've been poolside and hungover, i'm up to my eyeballs in guilt! On the plus side a week without trainers has helped my poor blistered feet recover! I am seriously counting on Franks and that spatula to get me back on it this week though...'
